The exact same question is asked of me by graduate students in my Writing Seminars. The answer is almost always the same. Writing a descriptive essay is not a simple task.Writing a descriptive essay is very much like writing a traditional essay. In fact, most of the writing that we do as writers of any kind, either traditional or descriptive, is all about doing just that. However, I also believe that there is another dimension to writing that we do not usually think about. I believe that is the purpose of this article. I want to show you how to write a descriptive essay that uses a different approach to writing that we do often, but I want to show you some tools that can help you achieve this.You might be asking yourself, 'what does 'descriptive' mean in writing a descriptive essay?' Basically, it means to describe something in a way that is as precise as possi ble. By that I mean you should use language in a descriptive way that is clear and exact.You see, if you are a good writer, and I would submit your work to a large publishing house if you are one of the best ways to get published is to put together a well-written descriptive essay. In other words, your descriptive essay should have the language and the tone of a professor (you would say in an objective manner).So, if you are a good writer, then how do you write a descriptive essay? Here are some things that you can do to help you create a descriptive essay:- Employing keywords (short, specific, catchy and specific) will help you make the most of your writing. In fact, this is the most important technique for getting published. This is because these keywords help your article to be picked up by the search engines.- If you want to write a descriptive essay, you have to prepare a list of your key topics. In fact, I tend to recommend a basic 'getting started' guide for writers, this is a short document that describes the topic of your essay, its introduction, and the main body of the essay. This also gives you a good sense of how to structure your writing and provides you with a good feel for the content.- Next, you should think about the audience for your essay and identify a general topic that they might be interested in. The purpose of the essay is to give them a sense of who you are and what you do. It is your chance to tell them why you are their type of writer.
